Bates 7th Annual Literacy Festival
Dear Bates Families,
We are writing with great news – the Bates 7th Annual Literacy Festival is scheduled this year for Monday, February 28th – Friday, March 25th, 2022. Just as in years past, many exciting literacy activities will be taking place throughout this 4 weeks time period. This year’s theme is Kindness!
This yearly festival challenges and encourages our students to read more, and to cultivate a love and passion for reading and writing. Although we have had to scale back some of our traditional activities, this year will be engaging and busy! Please find attached the schedule of events. BatesLiteracyFestival 2022 If you have any questions, please contact me at atraxler@salemk12.org. As always, check Parent Square for reminders, updates and changes.
Reading Challenge Forms will be handed out to students on Monday, 2/28. We are hoping that all students will read and achieve their 500 minutes in March Reading Goal/Challenge. (For younger students, and students learning to read, the option of being read to, counts as reading goal/challenge minutes!). Those students meeting their 500 minutes goal are invited to an ice cream sandwich/ice-slush party at the end of the festival on Thursday, March 31st.
Our Literacy Festival Night is usually held at the end of the month’s events. This year it will be held in June, culminating with our Bates Showcase.
Thanks for all your support and we are looking forward to this year’s festival!
